To enable our patients to live longer and healthier lives that are full, active and meaningful. We strive to go above and beyond to achieve exceptional and professional standards of general practice in a friendly healthcare setting.

We take our time to be understanding and caring towards patients needs. We endeavour to be equitable and responsive in our approach to serve our diverse population, with safeguarding vulnerable individuals and groups our utmost priority.

We work in partnership with our patients, their families and carers, making them in control of the care and treatment they receive.

In addition, the practice is committed to nurtuing all staff with continuous experience and training through learning and reflection to give an excellent rated patient experience, helping them develop their career within the NHS and to provide continuity to the business. 

Healthwatch Lancashire visited the practice on 25th June and conducted a report on the practice, including suggestions for improvement.

During their visit, they spoke to patients about their experience of the practice and many patients contributed to this. They are known as the Health and Social Care champions working alongside the CQC. 

They work with our NHS leaders and other decision makers to ensure they use patient/carers and families’ feedback to help improve care. They also spoke to staff and practice management and we have received the report which can be seen below.

Dads-to-be in Lancashire and South Cumbria can now download the DadPad app for advice and support.

The app is a useful resource before baby arrives and after baby is born, and is designed to be used as a quick, on-the-go reference tool, allowing new dads to enjoy their babies and feel more confident about fatherhood.

The app is free to download for parents in all Lancashire and South Cumbria postcodes.

NHS vaccination leads in the North West are calling on 16–25-year-olds to catch up on missed doses of the MMR vaccine amid rising measles cases. 

The NHS will send letters and texts to around 450,000 people aged 16-25 in the region, inviting them to come forward for the vital vaccination at a pharmacy or their GP practice.

Measles doesn’t just affect children, you can catch measles and become very unwell at any age. If you’re unsure if you have had one or both doses of the MMR vaccine, you can check on the NHS app, or contact your GP surgery.

The North West was the first place in the country to start offering the MMR vaccine in some community pharmacies and the offer is now being extended to include all eligible people aged 5 to 25. 

The NHS in the North West is also expanding the number of pharmacies offering the vaccine to make it easier for people to get their MMR in a pharmacy closer to where they live. You can find a list of participating pharmacies here: NHS England — North West » Measles and MMR vaccines

Eligible people will be able to walk in to participating pharmacies, or phone directly to make an appointment.

Dear Patients

All GP Practices in East Lancashire will be closed on the following dates:

• Thursday 7th November 2024 (from 1pm-6:30pm)

This is for Protected Learning Time which enables practices to provide dedicated training to their staff and to discuss and plan ways that will allow them to improve services, meet demand and support the wellbeing of staff.

For all life-threatening medical emergencies during the time we are closed call 999.

If you feel your request is urgent and cannot wait until the following day provisions have been made for urgent triage, please call 111.

For all routine requests for results, appointments, prescriptions, and general queries please call us prior to the above dates (you can email burnley.gp@nhs.net with prescription requests).

Patients currently receive reminders via SMS by AccuRx however following an integration, these will now be sent as notifications from your NHS App.

The NHS App allows you to access a range of NHS services. You can download the NHS App via the Apple App Store or Google Play from your mobile smartphone device.

The Accurx and NHS app integration allows you to view messages sent to you by your registered healthcare practitioner (GP, Nurse etc).

An updated version of the NHS App will be released from December 11th. It’s simpler and clearer, making it easier to access online health services. 

Some items may have moved in the App, but all the health services you need are still available. Your settings will also remain the same before and after the update.
